Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur.  The Cianjur Sub-regional Police in West Java re-arrested two detainees who had escaped from the Cianjur District Court at 3:38 pm on Monday (8/4/2024). Identified as Raihan and M Akbar, they encountered resistance and were shot in the legs during the re-arrest attempt in Bekasi. They have since been returned to custody, according to a report from antaranews.com. Cianjur Police Chief Superintendent Aszhari Kurniawan disclosed that out of the seven detainees who initially fled following a trial at the Cianjur District Court, four have been recaptured. However, efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining three. Chief Aszhari issued a stern warning to the fugitives, urging them to surrender voluntarily. Among them, Ujang, also known as Boncel, is suspected to be the mastermind behind a break-in at the detention room's toilet grille in the Cianjur District Court. He is expected to face multiple charges, including damage to state property. "We urge the families of the fugitives to cooperate fully with law enforcement. Any assistance provided to the fugitives will result in charges of obstructing officers," Chief Aszhari said. The escape took place on 25 March 2024, when the seven detainees broke free from the Cianjur District Court's detention room following a trial. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
