Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Two foreign exchange students died in a solo motorcycle accident on Jalan Dr. Wahidin, Semarang, Central Java, early Saturday morning (7/9/2024).

The Semarang City Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Irwan Anwar, confirmed that the victims were citizens of Madagascar, identified as Christophe Rahelison Jean (25), and Rwanda, identified as De Dieu Muhayimana (32).

Jean was driving the motorcycle while Muhayimana was the passenger.

"Both victims suffered head injuries and are now in the mortuary at RS Kariadi," Chief Irwan said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

According to witnesses, the accident occurred as the two were riding a Honda Beat motorcycle. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing them to crash into a curb and a telephone pole.

The victims were part of a foreign student exchange program at Diponegoro University in Semarang. Local authorities are working together with the University and the respective embassies to arrange the repatriation of the bodies.
