inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) reminds village authorities to optimize their role in suppressing the stunting rate in Indonesia.
“The active role of village authorities hopefully could help us suppress the stunting rate, death rate, and infant mortality rate,” says the Acting Deputy of BKKBN Training, Research and Development Sector Irma Ardiana on Thursday (7/25/2024).
Irma explains that villages have an important role in optimizing the suppression of stunting rate, mothers death rate, and infant mortality rate, as they are the governments closest to the people.
She also explains that one of the village authority's roles in tackling the issues is through the Developing Toddler Families (BKB) program.
BKB Program is one of the programs to guide families in nurturing and developing their children optimally. The program targets families or parents who have a 0-5 year old child.
“We saw that the government that is closest to the people is the village or district government, where they have the vital role in implementing the BKB program to ensure the safety of children’s first 1,000 days,” explained Irma.
Furthermore, Irma also conveys that the Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of Reducing Stunting targets that by 2024, there will be 90 percent of villages or sub-districts that have implemented the BKB which has been achieved.
