Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 12 villages in Latimojong District, Luwu, South Sulawesi, remained isolated due to floods and landslides.

"The situation in Latimojong worsened due to heavy rain," said Abdul Muhari, the Head of the Data, Information, and Communication Center for Disaster Management at BNPB in Jakarta on Sunday (5/5/2024).

Heavy rain caused new landslides, with a road to Latimojong collapsing over a 100-meter stretch and several bridges between villages being cut off.

Eight people in Latimojong died due to the floods and landslides, according to antaranews.com

Logistics aid, including food, has been airlifted by helicopters from the Air Force and South Sulawesi Regional Police since Saturday.

Luwu Regency is the hardest-hit area in South Sulawesi, according to BNPB.

As of Sunday, 3,479 families were affected, with 155 people displaced. 3,268 houses were flooded, 211 were destroyed, along with four road sections, one bridge, and 14 vehicles.

The death toll stands at 12, with one missing child found dead.
