inp.polri.go.id - As many as 500 people have died in floods in Nigeria. This flood also caused about 90,000 houses to sink, and cut off food and fuel supplies, Friday (10/14/22). Nigeria's Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management reported that since the beginning of summer or around June 2022, at least 27 of Nigeria's 36 states have experienced flooding and affected 1.4 million people. Based on the videos on Thursday (10/13), dozens of houses and shops were seen submerged due to the floods that occurred for several weeks. "I've never seen anything like this before. When the water came, we never expected it to sink the tank," local resident Khalid Yahaya Othman told Reuters, referring to fuel tanks submerged in water and roads covered in water. Meanwhile, state fuel company NNPC blamed the floods for fuel shortages in the capital Abuja. The company said the flood had blocked an important road to Lokoja. Federal Road Safety Officer Koton Karfe said the flooding had disrupted traffic for at least two weeks.
