714 TPPO Suspects Arrested in One Month: INP

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has made significant progress in addressing the issue since its establishment a month ago, with 616 cases actively pursued and 714 suspects arrested.

"Until July 4th, the Satgas TPPO has handled 616 cases of trafficking in persons with 714 suspects," stated Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in his written statement on Wednesday (5/7/23).

The spokesperson further informed that the Satgas TPPO, the Criminal Investigation Agency, and various Regional Police offices, have successfully rescued 1.982 victims, comprising 889 adult females, 114 female children, 925 adult male victims, and 54 male children.

The most prevalent modus operandi employed in these cases is the deceptive promise of employment as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and Domestic Workers (PRT), as evidenced by 434 identified instances.

Additionally, investigators have discovered 175 cases involving the exploitation of victims in commercial sex work (PSK), 9 cases related to the exploitation of victims as maritime workers (ABK), and 43 cases of child exploitation.

Currently, 114 cases remain under active investigation, while 473 cases are undergoing examination. As for the cases where investigations have been concluded, they have reached the P21 stage, awaiting further legal proceedings.
