inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman urges the installation of water pumping across Indonesia to be accelerated in anticipation of long drought.

"I want wherever there's water, there's water pumping. This is the time for us to move in anticipating food crisis," said Minister Amran on Monday (7/29/2024).

He says that water pumping installation is important to be done quickly across the country as the ministry determined to give their best effort.

"I implore you to give your best, your hard work. Go straight to the field and please procure the water pumping no less than two weeks," stressed Minister Amran.

According to him, the current drought is the worst as it is the longest El Nino in the history. Therefore, it requires a quick and solid collaboration with the governor and regent so that dried fields could be irrigated.

Minister Amran records that there are 20,559 water pumpings in Indonesia that have been installed. The water pumpings have covered 582,528 hectares and predicted to continue to increase.
