Amrih Jinangkung, the Foreign Ministry;s Director General of Law and International Treaties,  referred to the opening paragraph of the 1945 Constitution emphasizing the universal right to independence, calling for the eradication of colonialism worldwide.

"For Indonesia, the Palestinian issue is not just a matter of concern; it's a fundamental and constitutional matter related to the recognition of a nation," he said on Wednesday (8/5/2024).

Amrih highlighted Indonesia's commitment to Palestine and emphasized the nation's determination to pursue diplomatic avenues, both bilaterally and multilaterally, regionally and globally, in support of Palestinian independence, as reported by antaranews.com.

In addition to diplomatic efforts, Indonesia stands ready to defend Palestinian interests in international forums, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), he said..

As a gesture of solidarity, Indonesia has provided oral statements at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning Israel's aggression in Palestine, in response to South Africa's submission late last year.
