Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Bali Regional Police have rebutted claims made by Laura Weyel, a German tourist, who alleged unfair treatment by law enforcement while staying in a villa in South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali.

Bali Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Jansen Avitus Panjaitan said on Friday (26/4/2024) that Weyel's social media post was false. In a video on her Instagram account, Weyel claimed mistreatment by Bali law enforcement regarding villa rental and legal matters.

He clarified that Weyel defaulted on rent and assaulted a villa employee after being asked to vacate for non-payment since January 2024, as reported by antaranews.com.

Weyel's assault on the employee resulted in injuries and a police report. The legal process is ongoing, with police coordinating with Immigration for document verification, Chief Jansen said.

The incident garnered attention on social media, prompting Bali Police to assert that legal proceedings followed due process.

Chief Jansen urged verifying such claims and emphasized responsible social media use.
