Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Batik Air has temporarily grounded the pilots involved in a concerning incident where one of its pilots was found to have nodded off during a flight from Kendari to Jakarta on 25 January 2024.
Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, said in statement on Saturday (9/3/2024) that the pilot was suspended on 26 January 2024, highlighting the airline's serious approach to safety.
Emphasizing the need for pilot rest, Batik Air assured coordination with regulators and authorities to enhance safety standards, as reported by antaranews.com
Post-incident, Batik Air pledged to implement safety recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), bolstering training programs and operational safety.
The incident underscored the importance of vigilance in flight operations and adherence to safety protocols.
KNKT hasĀ revealed that the on-duty Batik AIr pilots fell asleep for 28 minutes, leading to a series of navigation errors. The total number of passengers on board the flight from Kendari to Jakarta was recorded at 153 people.
