Inp.polri.go.id - Kapuas Hulu. Joint security forces arrested two Indonesian citizens attempting to smuggle 15.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in the border area between Indonesia and Malaysia, in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, Major Arm. Ady Kurniawan, Commander of the Border Security Task Force Yonarmed 10/Bradjamusti, confirmed on Monday (27/11/23). Detailing the operation, Kurniawan explained that the methamphetamine was divided into 15 packets and concealed in tea packaging. The suspects transported these substances through an unofficial route in Badau Village, Badau Sub-district, along the Indonesia-Malaysia border in the Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan. Brigadier General Luqman Arief, the Commander of Korem 121/Alambhana Wanawai, commended the task force for thwarting the smuggling attempt. Nevertheless, Arief underscored that the temptation of lucrative wages for drug couriers continues to present a risk, signaling the potential for additional drug smuggling endeavors in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region. Arief advised the Border Security Task Force to enhance security measures at vulnerable points along the Indonesia-Malaysia border. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
