Inp.polri.go.id - Pati. The Central Java Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a Surya Bali bus and two large trucks on Jalan Pantura in Batangan, Pati, Central Java on Monday (23/9/2024), which resulted in six fatalities.

“We’ve already conducted a crime scene examination to determine the cause of the accident,” said Central Java Police  Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent Sonny Irawan, during a visit to the crash site.

Preliminary findings suggested that the bus driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, although police are still investigating whether it was due to fatigue or excessive working hours, according to antaranews.com

The accident happened when the Surya Bali bus, carrying 30 passengers, veered right and collided with the rear of the first truck before hitting a second truck.

Six people were confirmed dead, including the bus driver, a conductor, three passengers, and the second truck driver. Three died at the scene, while the others succumbed to their injuries later.
