Communication Expert Devie Rachmawati states that propaganda could be one of the prime threats that should be anticipated amidst election. “Community propaganda is an act of manipulating public opinion through media platform,” quotes Devie on Wednesday (11/29/2023) during public dialogue hold by Indonesian National Police in welcoming year-end holiday. According to her, propagandas could harm reputation and caused visual manipulation and attack the mental state of a person. Even more, propagandas could also delegitimize election organizers, triggers riot, and suppress. “Propagandas are used to cause public trust declining, preserve their anger, while also intimidate others,” she adds. She highlights that propagandas and hoaxes has become the persistent issue during elections.
