inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rahayu Saraswati D. Djojohadikusumo, revealed that the creative economy sector is an important pillar of national economic growth. 

She emphasized that it is important for the government to commit to encouraging the creative economy as a 'New Economic Engine of Growth'.

"The creative economy is able to create a snowball effect that has a broad impact on other economic sectors. Culinary, for example, is a sub-sector of MSMEs that has great potential to develop further," she said on Thursday (12/5/2024). 

In her statement, Rahayu also fully supports the proposed additional budget of the Ministry of Creative Economy to accelerate the development of this sector to the maximum. Moreover, the budget received by the ministry of around Rp2.42 trillion is still far from enough to present new economic strength.

"The needs of creative economy actors include business permits, copyright protection, and wider access to funding," she said.

Rahayu further adds that the government must be a facilitator in ensuring that these needs can be met effectively.

She also emphasized the importance of the role of the media in promoting local products through policies that encourage promotional efforts. This is one of the main keys to expanding the market and strengthening the creative economy.

Hopefully, the creative economy sector will be a concrete solution to the economic challenges faced by Indonesia.

"This is just a starting point, hopefully what is planned can be implemented well," Rahayu concluded.
