Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman clarified on Wednesday (6/11/2024) that the newly announced debt relief policy will only apply to MSMEs unable to repay due to severe financial hardship.
The selective debt relief targets MSMEs in agriculture, plantation, livestock, fisheries, and marine sectors affected by natural disasters or the COVID-19 pandemic.
The policy, limited to clients of state-owned banks with debts overdue by approximately ten years, is intended for those unable to recover financially.
"This is not for all MSMEs. Only those genuinely unable to pay are eligible for debt cancellation," Minister Maman said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Other MSMEs assessed as viable by state-owned banks do not qualify for this relief, he noted, emphasizing the need for accurate interpretation of the policy’s intent.
The government formalized this relief through Government Regulation (PP) No. 47/2024, signed by President Prabowo Subianto.
