The Denpasar Sub-Regional City Police's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Faisal Akbar Ramadhan (29), a tour guide suspected of raping a Chinese female national identified as TH (26). Police Senior Inspector Ketut Sukadi, the Head of the Denpasar  City Sub-Regional Police's Public Relations Unit, confirmed on Saturday that the suspect, originally from East Java, was already in custody for further questioning. The incident occurred on Thursday after the suspect accompanied TH and her friend, ZH (29), to a nightclub in Kuta the previous night. After leaving the club and consuming alcohol until 1 am, TH and ZH asked Faisal to drive them to their hotel in ITDC Nusa Dua. However, Faisal had ulterior motives, intending to lure TH into a hotel under the pretense of retrieving an item for a friend, antaranews.com reported Inside the hotel room, Faisal attempted to force himself on TH, who resisted. Her friend, concerned about her prolonged absence, sought hotel security's help to enter the room, where they caught Faisal in the act. "The suspect attempted to flee, but the victim's friend and hotel security managed to arrest him,"Chief  Sukadi said. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting he was attracted to TH since meeting her at the bar. He faces charges under Article 285 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) for rape, with a maximum penalty of 12 years' imprisonment. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
