inp.polri.go.id - Around a thousand people of Mamuju, West Sulawesi fled to the Manakarra Stadium after an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 rocked Mamuju City, on Wednesday (08/06/22). Head of the Mamuju Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Taslim Sukirno said there were five sub-districts affected by the earthquake, namely Mamuju, Simboro, Tapalang, West Tapalang and Kalukku sub-districts. "There are around 1,000 people who are currently evacuating at Manakarra Stadium," said Taslim in his statement, Thursday (09/06/22). The Head of BPBD said that around 70 houses were damaged by the earthquake and also several government and private buildings. "Currently the urgent needs needed by the refugees are tents, mats, blankets, lighting, and toilets," he said. However, until now there have been no reports of casualties due to the earthquake. BPBD Mamuju has also coordinated with other relevant agencies, such as the TNI, Polri, and the government. "Until now, there have been no reports of casualties after the earthquake. However, there is one resident who suffered serious injuries and eight people with minor injuries who are currently being treated," he said.
