Inp.polri.go.id – Demak. Due to the high intensity of rain and dams broken down at several locations in Demak Regency, Central Java, 44 villages in eight districts are inundated with water. The disaster has forced more than 2,000 people to evacuate and around 65,000 are affected by the flood. Regarding the broken dam, the sub-district head of Mranggen, Wiwin Edi Widodo reveals that it was caused by high intensity rain. His party also has coordinated with River Region Center (BBWS) in Demak for further handling. “People of Waru Village are feeling the worst impact of the disaster,” he said on Saturday (3/16/2024). One of the villagers, Ainul Yaqin, explains that the flood height has now reached up to the adult’s chest. The situation forced Ainul and his family to evacuate to Sunan Kalijaga Islamic Boarding School. As of now, the government continues to optimize the evacuation process for the safety of the people. Government also prepared public kitchens in evacuation posts to help the people meet their needs. (ad/ek//pr/nm)
