inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Chief of East Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Nico Afrinta, goes to the field to distribute rice and rendang meat to people affected by Emergency PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions Enforcement). Besides, the Chief of East Java Regional Police also distributes face masks and wear one of them to a maskless child in Ketintang, Surabaya, on Saturday (24/07/21). Two hundred fifty packages contain 5 kg of rice, 2,750 boxes of rendang from 2,900 kilograms of beef, and 1,000 face masks are distributed by the Chief of East Java Regional Police, accompanied by Primary Officials of East Java Regional Police. The distribution targets the online motor-taxi drivers, tire patchers, or anyone who depends on its daily living on the road. Satmoko, one of the online motor-taxi drivers, is happy to receive rice and rendang package because he admits that it is hard to earn money since the implementation of Emergency PPKM. Besides road closures, many people also choose to cook by themselves at home than using his service. "When roads are closed, it becomes harder to me who want to earn some money. I had to take a much far detour", Satmoko said after receiving the aid. "I am really thankful because I could help my wife and kids. I hope the Chief of Regional Police meets no problem during conducting the task and become successful. Thank you, Chief", Satmoko, who coincidentally passed by and received aid from Chief of East Java Regional Police, added. Police Inspector General Nico Afrinta said that the distribution of basic necessities and rice would be continued. However, for now, the Chief of Regional Police distributes rice and beef rendang cooked by Mobile Brigade officers, in collaboration with Padang restaurants, to cook sacrificial (Qurbani) meats to ready-to-eat beef rendang. "Today, we distributed 250 packages of 5 kg of rice each plus 2,750 boxes of ready-to-eat beef rendang from 2,900 kg of beef, so I hope that the recipients could cook the rice and eat it with beef rendang", the two-star general concluded.
