inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Marine and Air Unit has disclosed six fish bombing cases with five cases found guilty.

The Director of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Marine and Air Unit, Senior Superintendent Irwan Deffi Nasution explains that fish bombing are detrimental to the marine environment which eventually affect the coastal communities.

“The bomb explosion not only kills the fish, but it also kills marine biota seeds and damages coral reefs. The damage causes disruption of the marine ecosystem which causes the death of many living creatures there," said Irwan on Thursday (7/25/2024).

Irwan underscores that the use of fish bombs is prohibited and against the law.

“We will continue to assert firm law enforcement to anyone who uses this practice,” affirms Irwan.

He also urges the locals, particularly the fishermen, to immediately cease from relying on the fish bombing.

“Let us together maintain the sea ecosystem for the future of our grandchildren,” concluded Irwan.
