A total of 7 perpetrators were arrested with evidence of 87 kg of crystal methamphetamine. The seven arrested perpetrators were AS (20), MA (19), YF (30), MS (22), AS (20), DA (54) and AG (52). In addition, there were also two units of ships suspected of transporting methamphetamine that was also secured. "The perpetrators were arrested when entering the city of Dumai as the entrance from the waters. From them, 87 kg of methamphetamine was confiscated in a wooden hut," said Riau Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector-General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, accompanied by the Directorate of Drugs Investigation, Pol. Grand Commissioner Victor Siagian, Monday (10/11/2021). The Regional Police Chief emphasized that the illegal powder entered from abroad via waters anchored in Dumai City. The methamphetamine was transported by boat and fibre boat to be directly lowered to the storage point. "Initially, the officers arrested five people, then there were two sea couriers," explained the Regional Police Chief. The Directorate of Drugs Investigation at the Riau Regional Police said that the thwarting of the drug smuggling attempt to thwart 86 kg of crystal methamphetamine was carried out by the Sub-Directorate I team of the Drugs Investigation Directorate, led by Pol. Grand Commissioner Hardian, last Friday (09/25/21). Officers deliberately waited at a wooden hut in Tanjung Nelayan, East Dumai. After a long wait, the perpetrators finally arrived at the location. No doubt, the police immediately arrested the initial three perpetrators who were around the wooden hut. Meanwhile, two more people were taken not far from the location. Not wanting to waste time, the police immediately searched the perpetrators. Then, the police checked the location around the wooden hut and found a blue box containing five black bags. "Officers found 87 packs of methamphetamine in the box. Then the team carried out development and re-arrested two perpetrators who worked as transporters or sea trishaws," explained the Directorate of Drugs Investigation Agency. According to the Directorate of Drugs, the two transporters allegedly played a role in bringing narcotics of methamphetamine type brought from the Malaysian border to Dumai City. "The drugs were brought from Malaysia to Dumai. After that, the plan will be brought and distributed to Jambi, Palembang and Lampung," explained the Directorate of Drugs Investigation Agency.
