Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Indonesia announced that five para-archers have successfully qualified to compete in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. "Five para-archers have officially qualified for the Paris Paralympics," said Rima Ferdianto, the Deputy Secretary-General of the NPC Indonesia, on Tuesday (12/3/2024). These five athletes include Ken Swagumilang and Kholidin in the men's compound and men's recurve categories respectively. Additionally, Setiawan joins them in the men's recurve category. Their exceptional performances at the Para Archery World Championship held in Pilsen, Czech Republic, in July 2023 secured their berths. Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly, earning gold in the women's compound event at the Continental Qualification Tournament 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, and Wahyu Rento Wulandari, securing a bronze medal in the women's recurve doubles event at the 2022 Asian Para Games, are among the successful female athletes. NPC Indonesia's goal is to qualify 27 para-athletes across 10 sports, with the aim of winning two gold medals at the Paris Paralympics scheduled from August 28 to September 8. This target of 27 para-athletes in Paris marked an increase of four athletes from the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. NPC Indonesia has received financial backing of Rp 36 billion from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support the preparation for the Paris Paralympic qualifiers. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
