inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Heavy rain that hit Madiun on Tuesday (1/28/2025) night caused flooding and landslides in several areas.

One of the impacts occurred in a cemetery located in Mejayan Village/District, where a landslide caused 18 bodies to be swept away by the river current.

"It's true, the cemetery in Mejayan Village collapsed, and 18 bodies were swept away," said Mejayan Village Head, Gunawan, when confirmed on Wednesday (1/29/25).

He explained that the cemetery was intended for residents of Krajan Village, even though its location was in the Mejayan Village area.

"For the data collection of graves lost due to flooding, it is currently still being carried out by the Krajan Village authorities. If you are part of their family, you can directly contact the Krajan Village Head, because Mejayan Village is only a location," added Gunawan.

The floods that hit Mejayan and Saradan Districts were caused by high rainfall in the Mount Wilis area, Madiun. In addition to flooding, landslides also occurred in Tawangrejo Village, Gemarang District, and in Kare Village/District.

The landslide in Kare Village had closed the route to Telaga Ngebel tourist attraction. Currently, BPBD together with the military-police are still cleaning up landslide material and mud due to the disaster.
