Biticaca asked police members stationed in prone areas, particularly in Papua, Papua Mountains, and Central Papua, to prepare their strategic movements in handling the disturbances.

According to the election prone areas mapping by INP, Papua, Central Papua, and Papua Mountains are regions prone to conflicts.

“I advised members in securing Papua to coordinate with the Indonesian National Army and local security institutions to maintain 2024 Regional Head Elections,” says Verdianto.

With solid coordination, Verdianto believes that regions that were previously marked as prone areas could be handled smoothly and ascertain the success of the regional head election.

It is worth to note that in Papua, Papua Central, and Papua Mountains, INP has mapped 10 prone areas in the three provinces, which are Deiyai, Membramo Raya, Sarmi, Nabire, Jayapura, Supiori, Yapen, Mimika, Puncak Jaya, Jayapura City.

Police also mapped areas determined to be very dangerous in the land of Papua, which are Yahukimo, Nduga, Dogiyai, Bintang Mountains, Intan Jaya, and Puncak Ilaga.
