Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.The government planned to relocate approximately 300 households affected by the Mount Ruang eruption in Sitara Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, to safer areas.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said on Thursday (2/5/2024) that informal agreements have been made for areas affected by the Mount Ruang eruption.

He said that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing would handle the relocation of these families directly while the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) would oversee smaller-scale relocations.

After BNPB confirms data on affected settlements,the central and local administrations will plan rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, according to antaranews.com.

"If deemed safe, improvements will be made, ranging from minor to severe damages, with financing already arranged, or relocation," Ministry Muhadjir added.

Secretary-General of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, Mohammad Zainal Fatah, said that relocation scenarios, including Manado and North Minahasa, were prepared based on provincial administration recommendations.
