inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that one of the tasks mandated by President Prabowo Subianto is to accelerate the handling of tuberculosis (TB) as TB is an infectious disease with the highest death rate in the world.

Indonesia itself is known as the country with the second highest number of TB cases in the world. For this reason, the Ministry of Health is targeting the provision of a TB vaccine in 2029.

"Indonesia is actively participating in clinical trials, three are currently underway in Indonesia. We are one of seven countries doing this, the target is to complete clinical trials in 2028, so in 2029 it will be tried on patients," said the Minister of Health on Monday (10/21/2024).

The Minister of Health said that TB is one of the focuses for the next five years as this disease continues to haunt the people. "1 billion people have died from TB, this is far above Covid," he said.

In addition to being tasked with accelerating the handling of TB in Indonesia, Minister Budi also received a number of directions from President Prabowo. Among them are health screening for the community, accelerating the construction of hospitals in the 3T region and increasing the number of specialist doctors.
