inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Home Affairs invites the mass media to be proactive in supporting and enliven the XXI National Sports Week (PON) of Aceh-North Sumatra during Media Gathering in Hutan Kota, Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/3/2024).

The Acting Head of the Information Center of the Home Affairs Ministry Aang Witarsa Rofik explains that the PON XXI  must be celebrated by all, including the mass media. The holding of PON XXI  in Aceh and North Sumatra also has become the proud event of Indonesia and the two provinces as the event hopefully could raise the local economy and culture.

“The success of this PON is not only seen from its event, achievement, and administration, but also on how this event can improve the local economy, culture and tradition, MSMEs, and tourism,” says Aang in the forum.

He hopes that the holding of PON can be celebrated by all public elements and be able to stimulate national achievements in sports. Moreover he says that as part of the ministry who supports the event, the Ministry of Home Affairs has done many ways to ensure the success of the event, such as through the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Home Affairs dated August 5, 2024.

The letter recommends to governors, regents, and mayors to support the holding of PON XXI. Support can be in the form of publications in each province and district/city, preparing athletes to compete in the event and other support. Aang adds that in the same context, his party also invites mass media to support the publication of PON XXI as they have the roles to bridge the information between the organizers, athletes, and the public.
