Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly expressed the government's unwavering commitment to simplifying regulations and creating an investment-friendly atmosphere at the China (Zhejiang)-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/11/23). "The Indonesian government will continue to refine policies and regulations to support and facilitate ease of doing business," the Minister said. Stressing the imperative for increased investments, Minister Yasonna underscored the vital role Chinese investors could play in sustaining Indonesia's remarkable economic growth, positioning the nation as the fourth-largest global economy by 2050. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono echoed this commitment, emphasizing the strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Zhejiang Province, particularly in the fisheries sector, focusing on fish and seaweed processing. The aim extends beyond fulfilling domestic protein needs to catering to the Chinese and international communities. Zhejiang Province has emerged as a key player in Indonesia's economic landscape, with representatives highlighting investments by Zhejiang in 211 Indonesian companies across various sectors, including downstream mineral and cement. With a substantial GDP of 7.77 trillion yuan in 2022, Zhejiang Province stands out as one of China's most developed regions, adding significant weight to the burgeoning economic ties between Indonesia and China. This collaboration, integral to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) between China and Indonesia, has yielded tangible outcomes such as job creation and substantial contributions to local economic development.
