Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In a recent development, South Jakarta Sub-regional Police arrested an individual identified as RA, responsible for selling counterfeit tickets for the Coldplay concert. The arrest took place at a residence in the Mampang Prapatan area of South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/11/2023). Superintendent Bintoro, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at South Jakarta Police, shared details, explaining that the suspect had been selling fake tickets by duplicating authentic ones that were initially purchased. "The suspect directly sold these tickets to unsuspecting victims," he said as quoted by antaranews.com. RA's arrest followed reports from victims, identified as FSA and his associates, who collectively purchased 24 tickets, amounting to Rp312 million. Chief disclosed that the suspect, who works as a private entrepreneur, utilized a word-of-mouth approach to carry out the fraudulent activity. The victims fell prey to the suspect's persuasion, who initially offered what appeared to be genuine tickets for the Coldplay concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday night. "After seeing what seemed like legitimate tickets, the victims were tempted. However, upon closer inspection, they discovered that the tickets handed over by the perpetrator were cleverly duplicated," Bintoro explained. Acting alone, the suspect now faces charges under Article 378 concerning Fraud and Article 372 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement. If convicted, the suspect could face a maximum prison sentence of 6 years. "We are currently investigating the victims, as the reported cases are still limited. Additional information is still coming in, and there's a possibility that one of Jakarta's celebrities may have also fallen victim to this scam," added Bintoro. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
