inp.polri.go.id - Papua. The Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto candidly mentioned the issue on the Indonesian and Papua New Guinea (PNG) border that is plagued by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

Prabowo discussed the issue of KKB directly with the PNG Prime Minister James Marape from the Defense Ministry Office. Minister Prabowo highlights that the border areas of Indonesia-PNG are often used by KKB.

Initially, Prabowo was talking about the cooperation between the two states. Then, he explained that the border area of Indonesia and PNG have been used by locals throughout generations.

“We have to know that many locals in the border area are living in both states. It is natural for them, and it has been going on for hundreds of years,” says Prabowo. He then underscores that the relationship between the two states to be well maintained

When asked about the border area that is often used by KKB, Prabowo replied that PNG has respected the sovereignty of Indonesia.

“They truly respected our sovereignty,” said Prabowo.

It is a well known fact that KKB often caused troubles in Papua and attacked their own people. Lately they have burned schools in Okbap, Papua Mountains. The motive behind the arson is because they do not want the children to memorize the Indonesia's 1945 Constitution.
