Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) had addressed 636 intellectual property crime cases from 2019 to February 2024.
Superintendent Muhammad Taat Resdi, the Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Industry and Trade Division of INP’sIlri's Criminal Investigation Unit, revealed on Monday (6/5/2024) that these cases originated from reports across Indonesia.
"Out of the 636 cases, many were suspended because complainants withdrew their reports," he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Taat outlined that 38.8 percent (247 cases) were discontinued, 38.2 percent (243 cases) were under investigation, 15.69 percent (99 cases) were in process, 4.9 percent (31 cases) were halted due to lack of evidence, and 2.5 percent (16 cases) were transferred.
Regarding types, trademark infringement topped the list with 417 cases, followed by copyright infringement (175), industrial design (26), patents (10), and trade secrets (8).
Chief Taat said that these 636 cases were those reported by rights holders. The INP also investigated numerous other cases independently, involving additional criminal offenses under Health, Food, and Consumer Protection laws.
