Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called on labor groups planning protests to conduct them peacefully, emphasizing the importance of maintaining security, political, and legal stability.
"Security and stability are essential for sustaining economic growth," he remarked Friday (1/11/2024), addressing labor leaders in Jakarta.
Chief Sigit highlighted that demonstrations should respect public order, serving as a democratic model for other groups.
He also expressed appreciation for labor leaders’ commitment to upholding democracy, urging them to prioritize dialogue. The police chief underscored that worker demands can coexist with a thriving economy.
“We hope all expressions are conveyed calmly and responsibly," Chief Sigit said, stressing the role of negotiation in resolving disputes.
The meeting included top police officials and labor representatives, including Indonesian Trade Union Confederation President Andi Gani Nena Wea and Labor Party President Said Iqbal, according to antaranews.com.
