Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Forensic Laboratory Team (Puslabfor) of the Indonesian National Police  (INP)collected samples from a fire site in Mampang, Jakarta, on Monday (22 April 2024).

They probed a blaze at a frame-making shop-house that had claimed seven lives, according to antaranews.com.

Collected evidence included burnt charcoal and grinders found in the shop's basement. These items underwent lab tests at Puslabfor headquarters to pinpoint the fire's origin.

Deputy Head of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Assistant Superintendent Henrikus Yossi, outlined the investigation timeline and expected results within two to three weeks.

Mampang Prapatan Police Office Chief Assistant Superintendent David Yunior Kanitero confirmed seven fatalities, all found on the second floor, with five others having suffered burns.

Evacuation efforts for victims' bodies were ongoing. The investigation aimed for clarity on the fire's exact cause and origin.
