Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has taken action against 793 alleged cases of human trafficking crimes (TPPO) from June 5 to August 28, 2023. This enforcement has been carried out by the TPPO Task Force under the leadership of the Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, stated that within this operation, 962 individuals have been arrested and formally charged as suspects. Highlighting the impact of these operations, he remarked, "As a result of these extensive investigative efforts, a total of 2.549 victims have been successfully rescued," during a press briefing on Tuesday (29/8/23). The suspects employed a diverse range of tactics to perpetrate these crimes. The predominant method involved luring victims with enticing offers of high-paying jobs, promising roles as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) or Household Workers (PRT), constituting 520 cases. Another frequently employed modus operandi centered around exploiting victims as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK), registering 245 cases. Additionally, the TPPO Task Force has also exposed instances where victims were coerced into serving as Seafarers (ABK) in 9 cases, while the alarming issue of child exploitation has been identified in 66 cases.
