INP Will Deploy Thousands of Personnel to Secure Pope Francis Visit

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police will deploy 4,520 personnel to secure the visit of Pope Francis to Indonesia on 3–6 September 2024.

The Head of INP Public Information Bureau, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko says that the thousand personnel include the 1,077 personnel from INP HQ and 3,443 from Metro Jaya Regional Police HQ. They will be stationed at several points.

“Every activity, both pre, during, and post-event, we will secure the visit entirely,” said Trunoyudo on Wednesday (8/14/2024).

Trunoyudo explains that the Pope will arrive in Indonesia on September 3rd, 2024 and scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo on September 4th, 2024 in Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Afterwards on September 5th, 2024, Pope Francis will attend the interfaith meeting at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta. The agenda continued with meetings with beneficiaries of charitable organizations at the Office of the Indonesian Catholic Bishops' Conference (KWI).

“Later on in the evening, at 17.00 pm, Pope Francis will hold a grand mass at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, which will be attended by tens of thousands of Catholics," he said.
