Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration has been intensifying efforts to combat air pollution by expanding the number of air quality monitoring stations (SPKU). "Four SPKUs were acquired in 2011. In 2023, we saw a significant increase with the addition of nine more, and in 2024, we plan to include five additional SPKUs. Our commitment to addressing air pollution in Jakarta remains unwavering," said Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono on Friday (26/1/2024). However, the current number of SPKUs falls short for Jakarta. On a positive note, Acting Governor Heru highlighted favorable air quality in Jakarta, citing a PM10 pollutant level of 41—below the 55 maximum threshold, according to data on the Jakarta Environmental Agency's website. "Presently, the air quality in Jakarta shows a PM10 pollutant level of 41, below the maximum threshold of 55," he said. In response, Jakarta calls for vigilance, emphasizing that air quality may worsen during the dry season if not properly managed. He also advises building managers to persist in installing water mist systems, which have proven effective in curbing air pollution. Furthermore, he highlighted an ideal target of 25 SPKUs in the capital, with plans for a gradual increase. "The placement of SPKUs must be strategically determined to represent various human activities, including sports centers, urban forest areas, and densely populated residential areas," he said.
