inp.polri.go.id-Surabaya. The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police (Polri), Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi said that there were several problems found while traveling through the Trans Java Toll Road. This needs to be a concern during the Eid homecoming season.
First, he found that many of the guardrails along the Trans Java Toll Road were damaged. Second, several large loaded vehicles were found not strong enough to climb.
Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi said that there were also puddles on several points of the roads. He knows this because, during his inspection on the toll road, it rained several times.
"This is also dangerous when combined with the speed of the vehicle which we call the main sky," explained Kakorlantas at the Waru Roundabout, Surabaya, Thursday (10/3/22).
Kakorlantas also pays special attention to large vehicles with excess loads (ODOL) and warns that this can have an impact on traffic jams. "The thing is, If the truck is too heavy, automatically it cannot reach the expected speed. It hinders the speed of other vehicles behind it and caused a traffic jam. Second, because it is too heavy, it has the potential to damage the road," he said.
These findings will be used as evaluation material to find solutions so that traffic obstacles during the Eid homecoming season can be anticipated.
The Two-Star General emphasized the need for management and maturity from all parties so that the homecoming and return flow run smoothly. "We need to reevaluate again. Mind you that we don't mean to make it difficult, we are determined to fulfill and serve the needs of the community when going home to their village and securing the holidays," concluded Kakorlantas.
