inp.polri.go.id - Langkat. Langkat Sub-regional Police have stopped the 20 kg drug smuggling from Aceh to be sold in Medan.

“We have thwarted a drug flow of 20 kilograms,” says North Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Division Chief, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi on Sunday (8/18/2024).

Hadi says his unit stopped the illicit drug smuggling on the Banda Aceh - Medan Crossroad, precisely in the Besitang area, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. Other than seizing the drugs, police also arrested three drug couriers who delivered the meth.

“AS (30) was from Paya Terbang Village, North Aceh Regency, while MZ (32) was from Paya Bujok Seulemak Village, Langsa City, and ZF (23) was from Peureulak, East Aceh Regency. We uncovered the case following the information of drug smuggling from Aceh to Medan. Our unit managed to stop the suspicious car that we had targeted. After a brief search of the car, we found 20 packages of methamphetamine,” explains Hadi.

Following the arrest, police found another name, RF, who was said to be the mastermind behind the drug delivery. AS and MF said that the drug was supposed to be delivered to RF rented house in Medan.

“When we came to the rented house, we only found a man with the initials of ZF. We brought ZF in for examination,” says Hadi.

For their crimes they were potentially sentenced for life imprisonment or capital punishment. On the other hand, police are further developing the case to arrest the other drug criminals.
