Metro Jaya Police Thwarted the Smuggling of 112 Kg Marijuana to Jakarta

They were arrested in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra Province. From the suspect's hands, the police secured 112 kg of marijuana, which about to be distributed and sold during the New Year celebrations in Jakarta by the suspects. "The marijuana, which is from cross-Sumatra-Java network, will be sent to Jakarta by land and the plan is to distribute it for New Year's Eve," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Endra Zulpan, Wednesday (11/2). According to him, the goods were smuggled by land from Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra Province to Jakarta. The three teenagers were promised to get a wage of Rp3 million per person and plus one kg of marijuana if they managed to retrieve and deliver the marijuana back accordingly from the UN suspect. "These suspects get wages of Rp3 million per person from UN," said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police as quoted from Republika.co.id. From the results of the interim examination, the suspected couriers admitted that they had only did it once. However, they are known to be active marijuana users. In addition to being paid wages, the three Sumatra-Java network couriers were also promised one kg of marijuana. "The three suspects were also promised to be given one kilogram of marijuana if they succeeded in delivering the drugs," said the Head of Public Relations. According to the Commissioner Endra Zulpan, the disclosure of the case began with the disclosure of the previous case. The team then analyzed and found information that there would be shipments of marijuana to Jakarta. The team from Unit 2 of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police then went to Mandailing Natal, to conduct investigations and arrests. For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) Sub-Article 111 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. They also threatened with capital punishment, life imprisonment, or a minimum imprisonment of six years and a maximum of 20 years and a fine of Rp10 billion.
