Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights assures 14,291 inmates in Jakarta would not lose their rights to cast their vote in the 2024 General Election. “We have given the 14,291 voters data from the special location, correctional facility, and prison for the 2024 General Election. This number is 95% of inmates that we have successfully listed by our parties,” says Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office Head of Jakarta, Ibnu Chuldun on Wednesday (2/7/2024). According to Ibnu, the number has surpassed the target set by his party as the goal was 70% of the inmates. “This is quite unexpected as we initially targeted only 70% of them considering some of them may not have the official ID Cards. However, thanks for the support from Dukcapil, we are able to reach 95% of inmates to join the election,” said Ibnu. However, there are slight challenges in recording the inmates, which as was said earlier, they did not, or bring, their ID Card. “Many of the inmates did not bring their ID card. Generally it is because of their own doing and probably thought it is not important to bring the ID card with them,” explained Ibnu in his closing statement. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
