Inp.polri.go.id - Batu, East Java. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights taking proactive measures to reinforce security within correctional facilities (prisons) in anticipation of the upcoming 2024 Elections.

Erwedi Supriyatno, Acting Director of Security and Order of the Directorate General of Corrections at the ministry, emphasized the importance of thorough preparations prior to the event.

"We will be strengthening physical security, dynamic security, and procedural security," he said on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

In addition to enhancing security measures, he underscored the need to update Identification Number (NIK) and Identity Card (KTP) data within prisons.

He further emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant regarding information circulating on social media, as it poses another potential threat. Prison officers must ensure the accuracy of such information to prevent any disturbances to security and order.

"Effective coordination and communication among prison officers, election supervisors, political parties, and relevant institutions must be enhanced," he said.

He drew attention to societal issues that could potentially jeopardize security and order. Consequently, prison officers are urged to closely monitor these circulating issues.

Some of the prevailing concerns involve drug smuggling, illicit practices such as the smuggling of mobile phones into prisons, and disciplinary violations committed by prison personnel.

"Under no circumstances should any situation on the ground be underestimated, especially in relation to the current circulating issues," he stated.
