Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan has reaffirmed his support for law enforcement and legal process within the Ministry of Trade, which  has been under an investigation by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) over a sugar import case. The AGO's  investigation team search his ministry on Tuesday (3/10/2023). "The Ministry of Trade is fully dedicated to aiding and facilitating the resolution of these issues as part of our commitment to enhance the Ministry's performance. In essence, it is imperative that legal matters and law enforcement endeavors are given due attention," he said in a statement on Wednesday (4/10/2023) In his statement, the minister mentioned about his ministry's recent successes, particularly in effectively resolving challenges related to the distribution of cooking oil and maintaining stable prices for essential commodities. "Presently, the Ministry of Trade has successfully addressed a spectrum of issues. Notably, with regards to cooking oil, we have tackled concerns regarding pricing and distribution. The management of essential goods' distribution and supply has also been executed adeptly. This is substantiated by the secure conditions witnessed during Eid, Christmas, and New Year in 2023, with inflation staying below four percent," he said. At the Ministry of Trade Office, the AGO's team searched the Minister's Administration Room, the Import Director's Room, and the workspace of the Head of the Agricultural Product Import Team. In addition to the Ministry of Trade Office, the team searched the office of PT Perusahaan Perdagangan (PPI). (ar/inp/pr/nm)
