North Jakarta's Chinese New Year Promotes Peace Amid Elections

North Jakarta's religious leaders and residents mark the Chinese New Year, Kongzili 2575, with messages of peace for Indonesia, especially significant as it aligns with the approaching voting day on 14 February 2024. Monk Duta Smirthi from Lalitabistara Temple in Cilincing expresses hope for Indonesia's progress and calls for unity, emphasizing the importance of the 2024 Elections in shaping the nation's future. "Despite our differing choices, prioritizing Indonesia's unity and cohesion is paramount," he stressed. Police Senior Superintendent Gidion Arif Setyawan, Chief of the North Jakarta Sub-Regional Police, highlighted that the messages of peace resonating among residents reflect the nation's aspirations and hopes for the future, capturing the genuine sentiments of the people. "This is their heartfelt plea, and amid the festivities of the Chinese New Year, people yearn for a peaceful and harmonious 2024 Elections," stated the police chief. He affirmed the police's commitment to ensuring the integrity, fairness, safety, and peace of the 2024 Elections. Security personnel for polling stations are ready, with officers deployed during campaign phases, ballot transportation, and polling station security starting on 13 February 2024. (ar/ay/pr/nm)
