Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri announced that 8,617 personnel will be deployed to ensure the security of polling stations across the province.
He explained that these personnel consist of 2,000 members from the Papua Regional Police and the rest from various district police precincts.
"The military and the police are ready to oversee the electoral process effectively," he said on Wednesday (7/2/2024).
As many as 13 districts are classified as high-risk zones while Nduga, Yahukimo, Puncak, Intan Jaya, and Bintang Mountains districts are classified as highly vulnerable.
Chief Fakhiri said that additional Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel will be deployed to the highly-vulnerable districts while senior police officials from the Papua Regional Police will be stationed in four of the most high-risk districts.
"The senior police officials from the Papua Regional Police will commence their duties four days prior to the polling day on 14 February 2024," he said.
