Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police has pinpointed 13 areas prone to election-related incidents, focusing on five deemed the most vulnerable and requiring special attention. "Flagged as high-risk are Yahukimo Regency, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Nduga Regency, Intan Jaya Regency, and Puncak Regency," said Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, Head of Papua Regional Police's Public Relations, on Tuesday (23/1/2024). In response, an increased deployment of Mobile Brigade personnel is underway to enhance security in these areas. He affirmed, "We are intensifying security measures, placing a strong emphasis on patrols and vigilance at vulnerable points to anticipate actions from opposing groups." Furthermore, the police are relying on proactive engagement from government agencies, local administrations, and the community to facilitate a secure and seamless electoral process. "Collaboration with the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), the Indonesian Military (TNI), as well as Indigenous, Community, Youth, and Religious Leaders is crucial for the success of the 2024 elections," he said.
