Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), in collaboration with Medical Assistance Institutions in Gaza, has initiated mobile health services door-to-door for refugees, aiming to serve 1,000 patients in Gaza. "The initial phase of PMI's mobile health services targets 1,000 patients. After achieving this goal, PMI will continue these services, extending to other emergency shelters," said Arifin Muh Hadi, the head of PMI's Humanitarian Team for Gaza, in a statement on Sunday (11/2/2024). Arifin, currently at the Rafah border in Palestine, explained that door-to-door health services were deliberately chosen to facilitate refugees' access to healthcare, particularly those unable to reach emergency healthcare facilities, antaranews.com reported. After 128 days since Israel's attacks on Gaza, numerous infrastructures, including hospitals, have been destroyed. UNRWA reports severe disruption in healthcare services due to limited access to electricity and water. Currently, only four out of 22 UNRWA health centers are operational. Arifin highlighted the urgency of PMI's mobile health services, given the catastrophic health situation amid cold weather and poor sanitation systems, leading to increased illnesses among refugees. Healthcare services for Gaza refugees have become a primary necessity. Moreover, PMI's efforts through mobile health services are deemed effective, considering the limited healthcare facilities in Gaza compared to the overwhelming number of patients. Ridwan Sobri Carman, theĀ  Head of PMI's Disaster Management, outlined the deployment of PMI volunteers into two teams, each consisting of one doctor and two nurses, operating in Rafah and Khan Younis.
