inp.polri.go.id - West Kalimantan Regional Police arrests six international drug ring suspects with the total evidence seized being 19.9 kilograms of meth and 22,228 ecstasy pills.

“This operation reveals close relations between the suspects and the Fredy Pratama drug syndicate whose operations are already on international level,” says West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations Division Chief, Senior Superintendent Raden Petit Wijaya on Friday (8/16/2024).

He explains that the arrest begins with a report received by the police on Saturday (7/20/2024) about a drug smuggling attempt from Malaysia through Jagoi Babang border area, Bengkayang Regency. Following the report, the West Kalimantan Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate immediately launched an intensive investigation which targeted four drug couriers, MK, ML, JK, and YM.

Police successfully arrested the four couriers in Pontianak. They were arrested in the Aston Pontianak Hotel basement and in Ayani Mega Mall. From the arrest, police found the meth and ecstasy in the bag smuggled by the couriers.

“From our search, we found 19.9 kilograms of meth and around 22,000 ecstasy pills,” said Raden.

Following the successful arrest of the four couriers, police develop the case further and arrest another suspect, HB. HB was arrested in the parking lot of Yani Mega Mall when he was moving the three bags, containing drugs. Then police also arrested YD in Bandung who is said to be the person who instructed HB to get the illicit items from Pontianak.

Police say that YD attempts to sell the drugs in Bandung’s night clubs and admits that they have smuggled the drugs to the city three times.

Raden explains that this syndicate used a special application to communicate and has a link to the Fredy Pratama International drug ring. Dozens of bank accounts used by this network to support their operations have been blocked.

“We are still developing this case to another province, including South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan to further reveal the drug distribution network that involves the international syndicate,” concluded Raden.
