Inp.polri.go.id – Banten. Umrah scam practice uncovered Banten, which reportedly have already deceived 10 victims and gained profits from their illegal practice for more than hundreds of millions rupiah.
Head of the Sub-directorate IV of Banten Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Herlia Hartarani says that the scam was reported by a local named Umah. She reported the suspect, Fathullah (56), after he went missing since receiving the money from his ten victims.
Herlia says that the ten victims were initially introduced to Fathullah by Ummah in October 2022. Umah introduced them to the suspect because he owns an umrah traveling agency.
“They were said to be going to Umrah in February 2023,” said Herlia.
However, even after fully paying the payment, they were still never left for umrah. They then pressure Ummah to take responsibility.
Feeling guilt for introducing them to Fathullah, and also taking responsibility for her actions, Umah then decided to sent them all to Mecca for Umrah.
Following that incident, Umah reported Fathullah to Banten Regional Police. Police are now searching and pursuing the suspect.
Furthermore, Herlia also revealed that the travel company owned by the suspect is not registered. Fathullah tricked the others by telling them that he owns a legal travel company to deceive his victims.
