Inp.polri.go.id - Bandar Lampung. Police investigates major fire that hits Bandar Lampung Religion Ministry on South Teluk Betung District on last Sunday (18/8/2024).

The incident began when two security guards, Elva and Irvan heard a loud explosion from the second floor. They immediately went to the location and found the fire was already raging.

Elva and Irvan tried to extinguish the fire, but unable to do so as doors at the second floor were locked. As the situation grew dire and too much for just the two of them, they called the firefighters.

Fire was able to be exitinguished after seven fire trucks were deployed to the location. Unfortunately, the second floor of the building and all important documents within were burned completely.

In her official statement, Head of Lampung Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Umi Fadilah Astutik said the fire was thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit on the second floor of the building.

"According to our initial investigation on the location, we highly suspect that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit," said Umi on Sunday (8/18/2024).

There are no fatalities of this incident, although the material loss is high due to many electronics and important documents burned by the fire.

"We also have coordinated with Religion Ministry and have asked the Forensic Lab unit for further examinations," continues Umi.

Umi also assures that her party will continue to secure the location until investigation process is completed
