inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf, Director of Special Economic Crimes of the Indonesian National Police (INP), revealed the latest developments regarding the investigation into the adulterated rice case that is causing public harm. Police have conducted on-site inspections, including in traditional and modern markets, to collect samples of premium and medium-quality rice.
"We have tested these samples in the laboratory, namely at the Agricultural Post-Harvest Instrument Standards Testing Center. To date, nine brands of rice have been examined, and laboratory test results for five of them indicate that the premium rice does not meet quality standards," said the Director of Special Economic Crimes at a press conference at the INP Criminal Investigation Agency HQ on Thursday (7/24/2025).
Based on these results, police are continuing law enforcement proceedings against producers and related parties, in accordance with the findings of laboratory experts. The INP Food Task Force has also questioned several witnesses and experts to clarify the laboratory test results.
"From the preliminary investigation, we have identified three producers responsible for the five premium rice brands that do not meet standards," he continued.
Following up on this, police conducted searches, sealing, and confiscations at a number of production locations, warehouses, retail outlets, and offices to secure evidence needed in the investigation process.
